config.style.backdrop: "white" -- You find yourself in a room. ...You think. The space is...ill defined, at best. More accurate would be to call it a "void." An empty white expanse filled with nothing. A cold, wet droplet lands on your cheek. And then another, on the back of your hand. It starts to rain. And in that rain falls something peculiar. Two doors. They fall into place from the sky, suspended from nothing, but still upright. Like you could open them, and walk though. You look around. There's no other way out of this place, it seems like. What do you choose to do? >[[Go through the left door->Not Right]] >[[Go through the right door]] >[[Inspect the doors]]config.style.backdrop: "white" -- You find yourself in another void, but this one feels different. And yet, it's entirely the same. The air smells strongly of wood, despite there being almost nothing around you. The rain continues, but it's light enough that it hasn't soaked you through. Then, a sign falls before you. A worn, wooden sign, painted white, with the words "The Place Of No Winning" printed in red upon them. The paint's fresh, and the rain streaks it. You turn around. Behind you are two doors. Funny, you didn't notice them before. >[[The Init Door->The Rain of the Two Doors]] >[[The Exit Door->The Rain of the Two Doors]]config.style.backdrop: "pink-0" -- You enter the right door, and find yourself in another void. It feels...pinker? [if doorsinspected] The smell of {pieflavor} grows stronger. [else] You smell something... Is that...{pieflavor}? [continue] The rain continues to fall. >[[Left! Maybe it will work this time->Not Right]] >[[Right!]]config.style.backdrop: "white" doorsinspected: true -- ...Kind of a weird thing to do, but ok. You inspect the doors. ... Always take the door on the right. You get it, now. You think. ...Did things get a little bit pinker? The air smells even stronger of {pieflavor}. >[[Always right->The Rain of the Two Doors]] >[[Left Behind]]doorsinspected: false pieflavor: "bubblegum" config.style.backdrop: "white" -- [after 1 second] You feel strange. [after 4 seconds] [[Enter the void->The Rain of the Two Doors]] config.style.backdrop: "pink-2" -- You move though the left door, and things get pinker still. The rain has stopped. Apparently, this was the right door. On the left. Before you is a pedestal, and on the pedestal sits a slice of pie. A pie smelling strongly of {pieflavor}. You look around. There's not much else in this room, save the door you came back through. >[[Go back through the door->The Rain of the Two Doors]] >[[Take a bite]] >[[Inspect the pie]]config.style.backdrop: "pink-2" -- You take a bite. [if pieflavor == "bubblegum"] You eat a strange pie with bubblegum filling. Which is not, all that pleasant, considering pies usually aren't filled with bubblegum. It gums up your teeth, and after the first bite, you've decided you've had enough. You set the pie down and sit against the pedestal. There's not much else to do in this room. You get to blow bubblegum bubbles, at least. You blow one the size of your head before it pops, and thankfully, none of it gets in your hair. [if pieflavor == "cherry"] You eat a mysterious cherry pie. Nothing about it tastes all that mysterious, but you've found yourself in a mysterious situation. So, naturally, the pie's a little mysterious too. You finish the pie. Your hunger is sated. And cherry happens to be something you wanted, somehow. You think of cherry blossoms in spring. Somehow, in a room this pink, it fits. The thought is calming, at least. [if pieflavor == "raspberry"] You eat a mysterious raspberry pie. Nothing about it tastes all that mysterious, but you've found yourself in a mysterious situation. So, naturally, the pie's a little mysterious too. You finish the pie. Your hunger is sated. And raspberry happens to be something you wanted, somehow. You think of being a child, and gathering wild raspberries in the woods. The thought of it brings a smile to your face. [continue] And that, at least, feels like victory. END.config.style.backdrop: "pink-2" -- [if doorsinspected] Always with the inspecting things! Alright, fine. You inspect the pie. [else] You inspect the pie. [continue] ...It appears to be an ordinary pie. An ordinary pie with {pieflavor} filling. Nothing strange about it. >[[Set the pie aside]] >[[Take a bite]]config.style.backdrop: "pink-2" -- You set the pie aside. You don't usually make a habit of eating strange pies in strange rooms, and you're not about to start now. There's not much else to do in this room, so you wait. You sit down against the pedestal. This universe is...odd, but still. At least you know you're not the type of person to go around eating weird things left lying around. And that, at least, feels like victory. END.
